Fire Door Drop Testing

To keep your commercial door in compliance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Loading Dock Equipment can perform the required annual testing and inspection to ensure all requirements are being properly met.

Our expertly trained and certified technicians perform the visual and operational inspection, testing and certification of your facilities fire doors so they meet NFPA 80 requirements.

Fire door assemblies shall be inspected and tested not less than annually, and a written record kept.

Technical justification for inspection, testing, and maintenance intervals shall be documented.

Functional testing shall be performed by individuals with knowledge and understanding of the operating components of the type of door being subject to testing.

Fire door assemblies shall be visually inspected from both sides to assess the overall condition of door assembly.

Before testing, a visual inspection is performed to identify any damaged or missing parts that can create a hazard during testing or affect operation or resetting.

When the annual test for proper operation and full closure is conducted, rolling steel fire doors shall be drop tested twice.

The first test shall be to check for proper operation and full closure.

A second test shall be done to verify that the automatic-closing device has been reset correctly.
